The Aji Biyori Culinary Contest is open to all legal residents of Japan who are 18 years of age or older at the time of entry. Participants must be able to provide a valid Japanese address for prize delivery. Employees of Aji Biyori Publishing, their immediate family members, and affiliates are not eligible to participate. Please refer to the full contest rules for detailed eligibility criteria and restrictions.

Yes, participants are welcome to submit multiple entries, up to a maximum of three (3) unique dishes. Each entry must feature a different dish that adheres to the contest theme and must be submitted through a separate entry form submission. Submitting multiple entries does not increase your chances of winning proportionally, but it allows you to showcase different aspects of your culinary creativity within the theme. Each entry will be judged independently.

Entries will be reviewed and judged by a distinguished panel comprising senior editors from Aji Biyori Publishing and external culinary experts recognized in the Japanese food industry. The judges will evaluate each valid entry based on the following criteria: Creativity and Originality (40%), Adherence to the "Seasonal Harvest Flavors" Theme (30%), and Visual Presentation and Appeal (30%). Decisions of the judging panel are final and binding. Winners will be selected based on the highest cumulative scores.

Winners will be officially notified via the email address provided in their entry form by the Winners Announcement Date, December 15, 2024. Winners will have 7 days from the date of notification to respond and claim their prize. Failure to respond within this timeframe may result in disqualification and selection of an alternate winner. A list of winners (first name and prefecture) will also be published on the official Aji Biyori Publishing website and social media channels on or around the announcement date.

By submitting an entry, participants grant Aji Biyori Publishing a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, irrevocable license to use, publish, reproduce, distribute, and display the submitted photograph, dish description, and participant's first name and prefecture in connection with the contest and for promotional purposes across all media, including print publications, website, and social media, without further compensation or notification. Participants retain ownership of their original recipes and photos. Please review the full contest rules for complete details on intellectual property and usage rights.

The theme encourages participants to create a dish that highlights ingredients that are seasonal and typically harvested in the autumn in Japan. This could include ingredients like mushrooms (matsutake, shiitake), root vegetables (daikon, sweet potato), chestnuts, persimmons, or seafood prominent during this season. We encourage creativity in how you interpret "harvest" and "flavors" – it could be a traditional dish, a modern interpretation, or something entirely new, as long as it prominently features seasonal ingredients and reflects the abundance of autumn in Japan.
